{"id":19,"date":"2020-06-17T14:22:49","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T18:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/diversity-equity-inclusion\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2025-11-07T14:51:44","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T19:51:44","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/diversity\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>果酱视频\u2019s first-ever Office of Diversity and Inclusion was established in 2015 with the newly launched Momentum strategic plan. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/strategic-plan\/results-momentum-2015-2021\/three\/\">As part of that plan<\/a>, the University undertook initiatives in critical areas over six years.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Increase the retention and recruitment of diverse faculty, staff and administrators.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Increase the retention and recruitment of diverse students.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Create a welcoming and safe campus environment by promoting inclusivity and diversity through educational and professional development opportunities.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Ensure that curriculum reflects our goals and values as they relate to diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the college experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In 2020, a sweeping call for social justice across the nation prompted 果酱视频, like many institutions, to reexamine and intensify our efforts. Community dialogues during this time helped us identify new ways of thinking and working toward our goals. The student-centered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/multicultural\/equitable-adelphi-action-team\">Equitable 果酱视频 Action Team<\/a> and faculty-centered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/provost\/academic-diversity-implementation-team\/\">Academic Diversity Implementation Team (ADIT<\/a>) were established to help us dismantle racism and microaggressions at 果酱视频 and in our academic programs.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the 果酱视频 community built and launched a new five-year strategic plan\u2014<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/strategic-plan\/\">Momentum 2<\/a><\/em>. It includes our constant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/strategic-plan\/goal-2\/\">commitment to be an inclusive and connected community<\/a> and to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. <em>Momentum 2<\/em> promises that 果酱视频 will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Increase our efforts to recruit and retain students from underrepresented communities, introduce bridge programs, expand multilingual engagements with students and their families, and improve the diversity of our curriculum.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Expand our diversity, equity and inclusion programming for our community and external community partners through new workshops, educational opportunities, film festivals and podcast series.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Increase hiring, support and retention of diverse faculty and staff.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Shift from an Emerging Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) to a Designated HSI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>果酱视频\u2019s first-ever Office of Diversity and Inclusion was established in 2015 with the newly launched Momentum strategic plan.
