Summer research fellowships support Honors students who are conducting research in many different areas.
This past fall, ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ generouslyÌýfunded summer research fellowships for 10 HonorsÌýCollege students. The $4,000 fellowships support HonorsÌýstudents who are conducting research in many differentÌýareas. Preference each year will be given to risingÌýseniors, some of whose projects will lead to their seniorÌýtheses. But even freshmen are eligible as is evidenced by the first 10 Honors students to receive these awards.
David Campmier, a junior, will work with Associate ProfessorÌýMartin Haas on Dennis HartÌýMahan and the U.S. Civil War.
Cristobal ZarcoÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýCarolineSenatore, both seniors,Ìýwill work with Honors CollegeÌýAcademic Director NicholasÌýRizopoulos on Nazi economicÌýpolicy and the illusion of growth.
Brianna O’Neill, a senior, willÌýwork with Associate ProfessorÌýJustyna Widera on synthesis ²¹²Ô»åÌýcharacterization of CdTe/PolyindoleÌýnanohybrids.
Alexa Savino, a sophomore,Ìýwill work with Assistant ProfessorÌýNicole Rudolph on comparingÌýfemale roles in French politicsÌý(1798 and 2000s).
Praise Odigie, a sophomore,Ìýwill work with Assistant ProfessorÌýMargaret Gray as she makes aÌýdocumentary film on IllegalÌýImmigration.
Christopher Coen, a junior,Ìýwill work with Associate ProfessorÌýSean Bentley on longitudinalÌýoffset diffraction.
Ameena Rahman, a senior,Ìýwill work with Professor MarianoÌýTorras on a comparative study ofÌýeconomic indicators of well-being.
Alex Maccaro, a senior, willÌýwork with Assistant ProfessorÌýMaya Muratov on JohnÌýSinger Sargent’s masterpieceÌýportrait,ÌýThe Daughters ofÌýEdward Darley Boit.
Marissa Ciuffo, a senior,Ìýwill work in the medical divisionÌýof the New York City PoliceÌýDepartment on a study ofÌýmalignancy diagnoses amongÌýmembers of the NYPD.ÌýIn addition to the studentsÌýsupported by ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ,
²Ñ´Ç²Ô¾±³¦²¹ÌýMohacsi, a junior, will be fullyÌýsupported this summer by theÌýNational Science Foundation’sÌýprogram for Research ExperiencesÌýfor Undergraduates. Monica’sÌýresearch will be in optics at theÌýUniversity of Michigan.
