Visiting students from 果酱视频's partner institution in China

The College of Nursing and Public Health designed a customized two-week summer course on U.S. Healthcare for visiting students from 果酱视频’s partner institution in China.

果酱视频 is delighted to welcome 15 students studying the health professions from Jinan University, 果酱视频鈥檚 partner institution in Guangzhou, China. While at 果酱视频, the Chinese students are studying the U.S. Healthcare system, including its history, ethical foundations and delivery system. The course capitalizes on the vast knowledge of the faculty, with seven different professors contributing to the curriculum. Coursework also includes a simulation experience in 果酱视频鈥檚 Center for Excellence in Simulation and an observation opportunity at Huntington Hospital. Students from Jinan University will also interact with 果酱视频 College of Nursing and Health students on a day trip to New York City.

This program is the result of an exchange agreement between 果酱视频鈥檚 College of Nursing and Public Health and Jinan University. In 2011, 果酱视频 Associate Professor Yiyuan Sun spearheaded this partnership, which has fostered the exchange of 80 students and more than five faculty since inception. Eight 果酱视频 students studied at Jinan University during the summer of 2016 and the College aims to send another cohort in January 2018.

鈥淭his program is an excellent example of the growing focus of our College and University on global outreach and engagement,鈥 said Elaine Smith, Acting Dean, College of Nursing and Public Health, who was a guest lecturer at Jinan University in 2016. 鈥淚t provides our students and faculty many opportunities to explore nursing and healthcare from a global perspective. While there are certainly differences in how care is provided it is amazing just how many similarities there are too. Caring for people has a universal language that nurses all over the world understand.鈥
