Long Island Pulse turned to Diane Dembicki, Ph.D., clinical associate professor, for Halloween health tips.
For many Americans, Halloween is about one thing: candy. Lots of it. With the obvious health-concerns that come with consuming that much sugar, it’s important to keep a few tips in mind.Ìý
Diane Dembicki, Ph.D., clinical associate professor in the College of Nursing and Public Health and director of the M.S. in Nutrition program, shared her tips in the Long Island PulseÌý
One was: “Practice the ‘M’ word: moderation.”Ìý
She also advised, “The best thing to do is read food labels…but more simply, something that takes more time to chew, will slow down your eating and also give your body time to feel satisfied and thus maybe consume less.â€Ìý
