We hope that you will stand with us in defense of science and scientific integrity.

Dear ¹û½´ÊÓƵ Faculty: Please in the planning and coordination of an ¹û½´ÊÓƵ contingent to the NYC March for Science and student chaperoneship.

This year, on Earth Day, scientists around the globe will gather in Washington, DC, New York City and countless other cities to bring attention to the societal good served by science.

We the members of the Senate Committee for Scholarship will be among them. The Faculty Senate and President Riordan supports the non-partisan principles and goals of the March as consistent with ¹û½´ÊÓƵ’s values and mission for academic excellence, and we hope that you will stand with us in defense of science and scientific integrity.

We hope that you will also be willing to meet up with students, faculty and staff at pre-arranged meeting points, and help escort students to and from the March and on its route. Please take a few seconds to register below. The goal is to convince as many ¹û½´ÊÓƵ students as possible to attend, as a community to encourage political leaders and policymakers to enact evidence-based policies in the public interest.

Scientists, both academic and professional, administrators, and concerned citizens are already pledging to join in this peaceful proclamation in New York City.  They include students, researchers and faculty from Stony Brook, CUNY, NYU, Cornell and Columbia University, members and staff of the New York Academy of Sciences, American Chemical Association, Paleontological Society, Society for Neuroscience, Sigma Xi, American Society for Cell Biology, Genetics Society, UAW, SACNAS and Earth Day Network.

We will be encouraging student participation when more details about the March are solidified.
