In group counseling, six to 12 individuals meet, at an assigned time, with one or two group leaders, usually on a weekly basis. Group members talk about what is currently going on in their lives and what may be troubling them. Group leaders and other group members are available to give support and offer alternatives and feedback to members of the group.<\/p>\n<p>Workshops are educational presentations for students that are designed to enhance personal growth and to lessen stress and anxiety. Typical workshops include stress management, relationship issues, anger management, assertiveness training, eating disorders and body issues, grief and loss, and sexual abuse and assault. The Student Counseling Center welcomes requests for other workshops.<\/p>\n<p>All groups are free for 果酱视频 students. Call <strong>516.877.3646<\/strong> to sign up for a group or to get more information.<\/p>\n<h2>Ask, Persuade, Assist<\/h2>\n<p>In this workshop series, you will learn the tools to recognize the warnings signs of suicide and how to properly intervene.<\/p>\n<p>Learn how to save a life with Erin Furey, a social worker from the Office of Health Outreach &amp; Promotion at 果酱视频. This training is designed to equip you with the necessary tools to recognize the warning signs of suicide. You will learn a three-step, evidence-based method to intervene when someone may be at risk of ending their own life. We ask participants to respect the rules of the group\u2014these are available at the beginning of each group but include such things as keeping everything that is said within the group confidential, respecting the individual situation of others in the group, and not pressuring anyone into saying anything if they don\u2019t want to.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact <strong>Scott Zotto<\/strong> at the Student Counseling Center at 516.877.3679.<\/p>\n<h2>Racism, Injustice &amp; Change Support Group<\/h2>\n<p>This support group for students provides a space to discuss the ways in which the current racial\/socio-political climate has impacted your mental health.<\/p>\n<p>Facilitated by Student Counseling Center counselors, and Josh Altman, this group allows students to explore how your own experiences of power, privilege and racial injustice have affected your emotional health and shaped your identity. We&#8217;ll discuss how you can cope with these stressors in a healthy manner, while exploring the ways in which you can potentially effect change.<\/p>\n<p>This group is open to ALL students. <strong>Registration is required<\/strong>. The group will only meet for 4 weeks and attendance is capped at 10 students per meeting. If the meeting you wish to attend is full, please email us to let us know that you are unable to log in, and we will help to facilitate your participation in the following week&#8217;s meeting.<\/p>\n<h2>Coping with COVID-19 Support Group<\/h2>\n<p>Led by Student Counseling Center&#8217;s Katie Wigdzinski<\/p>\n<p>This is a supportive discussion group for current students who are experiencing personal and academic difficulties related to COVID-19. We will focus on developing positive coping strategies, problem-solving techniques, and resilience. This is an opportunity to express yourself, hear from others, and support one another. Registration is not required.<\/p>\n<h2>Eating Disorders Treatment Group<\/h2>\n<p>果酱视频 offers therapy groups for individuals struggling with eating disorders, weight control, body image, or related problems with self-regulation. Even if the unwanted contact happened months or years ago, all survivors are invited to participate.
