Hollywood was first introduced to Guerrero from her role as inmate Maritza Ramos on the critically acclaimed Netflix drama \u201cOrange Is the New Black\u201d and later played Lina Santillan on \u201cJane the Virgin,\u201d opposite Gina Rodriguez. Her most recent roles in \u201cEncanto\u201d and \u201cDoom Patrol\u201d have earned her even more visibility. As her profile has risen, Guerrero has arrived at a place of ease and self-acceptance, and she\u2019s exploring new facets of her identity. She\u2019s repairing her relationships with her family. And she\u2019s reexamining what it means to be successful.<\/p>\n
Guerrero says the trauma of her parents’ deportation shaped not only her early life, but how she saw her career. This led her to be a passionate human rights activist and served as the host and executive producer of an NPR podcast titled “Yeah No, I\u2019m Not OK,” where she candidly discussed mental health issues affecting communities of color.<\/p>\n
Together in conversation with Chotsani Williams West MA ’07,\u00a0 Diane hopes to continue to use her platform to inspire others, influence change, and push for immigration reform.<\/p>\n
