Peer Mentoring
Bridges to ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ is looking for undergraduate students to be a part of their peer mentoring program.
The Bridges to ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ Program, which offers academic, social, and vocational support services to ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ students who self-disclose with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other non-verbal learning disorders, is seeking ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ undergraduate students to be a part of peer mentoring program. This is a volunteer position.
We seek individuals with patience, dedication, reliability, and passion, who communicate effectively and have strong time management. The Bridges to ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ Program has been known to be an excellent and educationally enriching training site for graduate and undergraduate students to gain experience in a field of service, specifically working with individuals on the autism spectrum or any other non-verbal or neurological-social disorders.
Peer Mentors will need to meet with either one student once a week or two students twice a week. These meetings are typically one hour long and there is a report the peer mentor has to complete. The reports don’t take longer than 15 minutes to complete.

About the Peer Mentor Position
This is a volunteer position to meet with a student once a week to develop and maintain a peer relationship, focused on helping students transition to campus life and establish a sense of community.
You must be:
- A current ¹û½´ÊÓÆµ student
- Willing to commit to a minimum of a full year of volunteer service
- Able to meet with paired mentee a minimum of once a week for 1 hour
- Able to submit documentation in a timely, consistent, clear manner
- Communicative with designated supervisor (during supervision as well as via email)
- Reliable, consistent, and dependable in providing service
- Able to follow policies and procedures, and uphold confidentiality
- All peer mentors report to a designated supervisor and receive supervision through feedback within reports as well as meetings to guide you throughout this process.
- Meeting with your assigned Mentee a minimum of once per week for 1 hour
- Develop and maintain peer relationships, focused on helping students transition to campus life and establish a sense of community
- Guide students on navigating the social aspects of campus life
- Help to facilitate student engagement in social activities and events
- Implement suggestions from students’ team members
- Submit reports within 24/48 hours; other duties as assigned
- Opportunity to build healthy mentoring relationships with new students
- Develop leadership, organizational, and self-management skills
- Increase knowledge and understanding of neurodiverse individuals
- Improve communication and interpersonal skills
